Materials Resources LLC (MRL) Secures $25.2 Million Department of War Award to Revolutionize Solid Rocket Motor Manufacturing

XENIA, Ohio – September 12, 2025 – Materials Resources LLC (MRL), a recognized leader in Smart manufacturing solutions, today proudly announced it has been awarded $25.2 million by the Department of War to significantly expand the solid rocket motor (SRM) industrial base. This landmark award, granted via Title III of the Defense Production Act (DPA), firmly positions MRL at the forefront of modernizing and advancing domestic SRM production capabilities.

This strategic investment in MRL directly supports the FY 2025 National Defense Industrial Strategy Implementation Plan. Its core objectives are to expand the munitions industrial base, bolster critical supply chain resiliency, and substantially increase domestic production in strategic priority areas. The award underscores the Department of War’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge commercial solutions to meet defense requirements and ensure rapid, reliable access to essential components.

A New Era of Agile Production 🚀

MRL’s $25.2 million award is specifically allocated to demonstrate a groundbreaking SRM prototype production capability. This initiative will enable the Department of War to achieve agile production of SRM metallic cases through MRL’s advanced additive manufacturing processes, leveraging its scalable robotic manufacturing cells.

A pivotal feature of MRL’s proposed manufacturing capabilities is the inherent ability to routinely and quickly switch between materials and component designs, offering unprecedented flexibility and responsiveness to the defense supply chain. MRL’s innovative approach is set to drastically reduce lead times and significantly increase the adaptability of SRM production, thereby profoundly strengthening the entire defense industrial base.

“This award represents a pivotal moment for MRL and a significant step forward for defense manufacturing,” said Dr. Ayman Salem, President of MRL. “Our Smart additive manufacturing capabilities, combined with our scalable manufacturing cells, are poised to deliver unprecedented agility in producing critical SRM components. We are immensely proud to partner with the Department of War to enhance domestic production capabilities and bolster the nation’s defense readiness.”
