Materials Resources, LLC (MRL), a leader in Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) and advanced additive manufacturing, announced today that it has been awarded a $9.8 million Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The contract supports the Joint Additive Manufacturing Acceptability (JAMA) IV Pilot Parts Program, a critical initiative designed to modernize the Department of Defense (DoD) supply chain through 3D-printed metallic components.

The JAMA IV program is the latest phase of the DLA’s effort to establish a robust, reliable supplier base for additive manufacturing. Under this contract, MRL will utilize its proprietary iCAAM (Integrated Computational Adaptive Additive Manufacturing) software and advanced material characterization capabilities to produce flight-critical and ground-support spare parts for the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.

“We are honored to be selected by the DLA to play such a pivotal role in the future of defense logistics,” said Dr. Ayman Salem, President and Founder of MRL. “The JAMA IV program isn’t just about printing parts; it’s about ensuring those parts meet the same rigorous performance standards as traditionally forged components. Our model-based approach allows us to deliver high-quality, safety-critical parts with significantly reduced lead times, strengthening the readiness of our nation’s warfighters.”

Based in Xenia, Ohio, MRL has spent over a decade perfecting the science of “smart” additive manufacturing. By combining physics-based modeling, machine learning, and comprehensive mechanical testing, MRL can predict part performance at the micro-scale, ensuring that every 3D-printed component meets strict military specifications.

The $9.8 million award follows MRL’s recent successes in high-performance manufacturing, including a major $25.2 million project to revolutionize solid rocket motor production. This new JAMA IV contract further solidifies MRL’s position as a primary partner in the Pentagon’s shift toward distributed, on-demand manufacturing.
