ICAAM Integration

If iCAAM is the brains behind property prediction and process optimization, sensors are the eyes. MRL recognizes the value of in-situ, live streaming sensor data for calibration of ICME modeling and optimization of process parameters. Therefore, we have developed methodology for installation, data collection, and data analytics for sensors that sit co-axial with the laser in our powder bed fusion machines for monitoring the melt pool morphology and temperature, as well as laser power output. Monitoring data is related to specific build locations via invasive hardware integration with galvanometers and data fusion, in order to aid in location-specific property predictions. This type of detailed process monitoring data also reduces the cost of qualification for the associated machines and parts, by providing non-destructive demonstration of consistency and repeatability.
